Well, it was everything you would hope for in a Christmas day matchup. LeBron James vs. Kevin Durant, and it lived up to the hype. LeBron finished with 29 Points 8 Boards and 9 Assists to lead the Heat.

The once unstoppable San Antonio Spurs have come crashing down to Earth as their phenomenal 20 game win streak has transformed into a sloppy three game losing streak. I’m not usually one to get caught up in superstitions or anything of the sort, but when it comes to sports you have to be. I wrote an article praising the Spurs and their abilities just prior to game 3 of the series. About an hour afterward, the Spurs and Thunder tipped off for what would ultimately be a 20-point route of the men I had just finished commending.

Tim Duncan (4), Tony Parker (3), and Manu Ginobli (3) have a combined 10 NBA Championships.

Since that day, the Spurs have games 4 and 5 but only by a combined 11 points. Even down 3-2 in this series, there is no doubt that the Spurs have the ability to get this done. The Spurs are a veteran team with the experience and history that you want this late in the playoffs. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobli have a combined 10 rings, so they know what it takes to win.

Kendrick Perkins and Derek Fisher aside, no one on Oklahoma City’s roster has any jewelry. But the Thunder are younger, faster, and, quite frankly, more fun to watch. Kevin Durant is averaging over 27 points per game this series and has shown no signs of slowing down. When point guard Russell Westbrook is playing selfless basketball, there is very little opposing defenses can do.

Quite frankly, I don’t care who wins this series. I feel strongly that the Thunder will close it out tonight, but, if they don’t, we can all expect some serious fireworks in game 7. Regardless, I’ve got the Thunder playing the Celtics for a shot at the title when all is said and done.

Tip-off for game six is tonight at 9:00pm on TNT.
